MEET OUR MTSS COORDINATOR & INTERVENTIONISTS
MTSS OVERVIEW
MTSS stands for a Multi-Tiered System of Supports. This is a framework that all North Carolina schools have to support student’s learning and ensure that all students are successful. Using a framework that contains different levels teachers and interventionists are able to support students and help those that are struggling. These supports are geared toward reading and math mostly but all aspects of learning at kept in mind.

DIFFERENT TIERS
Students are placed in a tier based off of their needs in reading and math. These tiers change all the time and can be overlapping.

Tier 1: All student are in this tier and receive high quality instruction.

Tier 2: Students that might struggle a bit more will get extra supports from their classroom teacher.

Tier 3: Students that continue to struggle will have an added support of working with an interventionist in addition to their normal classroom time.
IDENTIFICATION
Finding students that need additional supports is an ongoing process. Teachers and parents can refer a child to be looked at more closely. We decide as a committee what is best for the student by looking at test scores, classroom work, observations, and parent input.

YOUR STRUGGLING CHILD
In the event your child is struggling you are always welcome to refer your child to move to a Tier 2 plan using the link below. You can also talk to your classroom teacher about your concerns. When a child is referred to the MTSS team we talk about what supports are best for that child. The results of that meeting will be explained to you after. If it is determined your child would benefit from the supports of Tier 2 or Tier 3 then the teacher working with your child will write up a plan and call you with details.
